Download iPodSync, no more dull PDA!

Synchronize your Outlook calendar contacts, tasks, and notes between your PC and your iPod.

  • License: Free to try; $14.95 to buy
  • Limitations: 15 day trial
  • Requirements Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/2003 Server, Outlook 2000
  • Publisher: ICC
  • File size: 6.15MB

You don’t have to choose between a dull PDA and a funky iPod because this software can virtually merge the function of the two. iPodSync most notable feature is it lets you automatically import Microsoft Outlook content to your musical companion. And while iTunes itself will now let you add your e-mail contacts to the iPod, this program goes beyond by importing full messages and your calendar, complete with any upcoming meetings you might have. In addition to this, iPodSync can also add RSS feeds, movie information and even weather forecasts. For me, there’s no more excuses to buy a PDA over an iPod.

Download PIMOne, Your Professional Organizer!

Manage personal information such as contacts, plans, a diary, notes, and tasks.

  • Limitations: 20-day trial
  • Requirements: Windows 98/Me/2000/XP
  • Publisher: PIMOne Computing
  • File size: 5.3MB

This is a one attractive information manager. Its notebook style interface uses tabs down the right side to provide quick and easy access to the main modules including planner, task list, contact book, memo pad, and holiday list. There's even a password vault for storing and filling out web logins; so I guess there’s no more need of a RoboForm if you got this PIMOne. The program can automatically shut down the computer, send e-mail, and do other simple operations according to your schedule. So overall, I think it’s worth a try and if you find it pleasing like me, my opinion is its value for buy.

Download Free Office Software - OpenOffice.org 2.0.4

Download Free Office Software - OpenOffice.org 2.0.4

Are you having a problem with MicroSoft Office? No problem, OpenOffice does it all.

A credible rival to MicroSoft Office, OpenOffice.org has all the powerful applications for making text documents, spreadsheets, presentations, diagrams, databases, as well as HTML and XML documents. You can now edit basic documents, such as letters and faxes, handle complex and multipart documents with bibliographies, reference tables, and indexes.

The interface is pretty similar to that of MS Office users, and even advanced Office users will find almost everything they're used to: templates, collaborative features (versions, recording changes), macros, and even a programming language. OpenOffice.org lets you open and save documents in formats as diverse as MS Office, PDF, HTML, and XML. However, it normally saves files in the open-standard Oasis OpenDocument XML format, for maximum compatibility with other applications.

The good thing about OpenOffice.org resides with the compatibility for all end-users. Documents can be saved in any format in case the receiving parties do not have OpenOffice installed. As far as functionality is concerned, I have yet to discover any major downsides while using OpenOffice.
